A Poem for Easter
I don't care about anyone rising from the dead
except maybe memories
long dead memories of
stuffed rabbits and burnt orange
coffee cups of egg dye
lamb shaped cakes
plastic grass
pineapple topped ham
and a basket just for me
filled with once a year candy
and new crayons
daffodils, overalls, and egg hunts
giant zippered rabbits
and the smell of growth
in the warmth of reborn sun
